0KRAFTWERK prods.
³-----------------------------------²«Kraftwerk productions»³-----------------------------------²By: ¹the Model/Sonic²
³Kraftwerk: Radio-aktivitat² (1975)
I wouldn't play this one to people who haven't even heard about Kraftwerk,
because this is really a strange record (even compared to newer Kraftwerk-songs).
LP begins with 'Geigerzahler', one-minute-long tack-tack-tack... After
that 'interesting' experience comes 'Radioaktivitat', which is the best piece
on this record, I think. It's almost danceable song, but still in old
Kraftwerk-style. All in all, this LP contains 12 tracks, but if you'd like to
count 'real' songs, then the number would be about five or six, because others
are just weird effects (they'd be great sample-sources), e.g.'Sendepause' is
just a little pause with somekind of noise. BUT this record was really meant
to be like that, I mean those different songs are in conclusion like a trip,
you know.Just like their older LP, 'Autobahn'.
³Kraftwerk: Man-machine² (1978)
THIS one is my absolutely favourite! It includes e.g. 'the Robots',
which is one of the best electro-dance tracks, I think. And songs like
'the Model' and 'the Man machine' just improve the atmosphere. On this
record you can clearly see that Kraftwerk is coming closer and closer to
the normal dance-music, but still keeping it's great style. This one was
released by Capitol records, as Radio-aktivitat was by Electrola. In my
opinion, the original 'Robots' (on this LP) was a LOT better than the version
on 'the Mix'-record. I didn't believe when I heard this song that it was
made in 1978, until I heard it from friend of mine, so modern it is.
³Kraftwerk:the Mix ²(1991) (English version)
This CD contains only old Kraftwerk-songs, but they're all re-recorded. And
this record has one good side: There's no 'filling'songs. The robots,
Computerlove, Radioactivity, Trans Europe express and Music non stop (original
from 1986) are great Electro-dance-tracks, but I think there's one fault:
they sound too 'hard'. Maybe the reason is Digital synthesizers, because the
old songs were originally recorded with analogue synthesizers with a lot
softer sound. But of course that isn't the only reason: Songs were rearranged
in a new style, and sure it becomes 'tougher' that way. But, in conclusion,
I'd say that this is the best dance-music-album from them. (Maybe because it
is the only one...)
³Kraftwerk:Radio-aktivitat Maxi-EP² (1991)
Well... this EP contains three songs,or actually different versions. They're:
Radioactivity (Francois Kevorkian-remix), Radioaktivitat (Francois Kevorkian-
remix) and again Radioaktivity remixed by William Orbit. These mixes are
made for dancing, and they're in modern style. And I think they're the best
versions of these songs, at least better than Kraftwerk's own version on
'The Mix'. There's no big differences with these songs, but personally I
prefer William Orbit's version. The biggest difference between these songs
are the words. In Radioaktivitat they're in German, in others they're in
English.
Well... If there's any Kraftwerk-freaks out there, preferably in Finland,
then contact me!! (My addy should be somewhere in this mag), especially if you have
'Autobahn'-LP or 'Music non stop'-single. Also 'Electric cafe' wanted!
